Life in a nutshell ( not literally) over the past month
Just thoughts I’d post up this post secret to say thanks to everyone for all nice things you and say that I haven’t thanked you for, I appreciate them!
It’s definitely high time for a new post and this here post is a little more informative about my Adelaidian life than the last two because now there are even more friends who have left the safe Australian shores and I’m having trouble keeping up with all the emails!
Since March 4th, I said goodbye to Lib as she departed on her travels around America for 6 months – I miss you Lib! Also I went with Leah on a trip down memory lane, returning to her childhood home (well not literally, we stayed in Leah’s beach house, but we drove past the old house.) Although I was only there for a couple of days, it was such a relaxing time and I’m really glad I was able to go there.
On the Saturday morning, it was a stinking hot day and with a beach front house, there was no alternative but to spend the day at the beach. Now , I admit it, I possess a slight fear of the sun , and the prospect of going to the beach in 35+ degree weather freaked me out enough without considering not wearing a massive beach hat in the water. However, it was on this day that I conquered (to a degree) my repressive horror regarding the sun. I actually stepped into the harsh ruthless Australian sun and enjoyed a lovely day at the beach.

pretty self explaintory, me in the water :)
I am covered in wet sand because sand is actually natures best exfoliator!
That following night, we embarked on a cultural journey as we sussed out the Millicent pub life. I must say our little pub crawl didn’t quite have the same excitement that a night in town has. The first pub closed about 12:30 so we headed onto another one but by 2:30 there was just nothing open, it was time to go home. However we had a slight problem, we were meant to go home with Leah’s friends mums son, Frank but he vanished so we stayed the night at a friends exs cousins house and Leah knew him before that so it was quite safe but a bit of a shock to the guys mum when she walked into the guest room to find us asleep in there, as she hadn’t quite made it to the kitchen to read the note explaining there were two strange girls in the spare room!! All in all Millicent and South End was very fun and I have developed quite an affection for little country towns!
Other than that I’ve been trying to do all the weird and wacky things I can do with my time, to help others and I guess make sure I am at least experiencing new things even though I haven’t gone overseas like so many of my friends. I conquered my fear of public speaking by giving a talk to the Seymour community at a service assembly about how awesome and rewarding community service is for both “us and themJ” and have taken on a role as the communications leader of our world vision youth run division( vgen) , go to www.stir.org.au. Other than that I’ve become a jy leader and am going on jump start this weekend which should be cool, lol Colin Buchanan and maybe it will even inspire me to start thinking about mission, at least I guess I’m hoping that it might. Other than that, I don’t really know what else I’ve been doing, uni and some work at Kids Media. Although its wonderful to have found some administration work, as I know its hard to find and its really good experience, I’m only getting about 4 hours a week and that isn’t really helping me build up my savings account very well.
Sorry that this isn’t quite the exciting creative story I’m sure you were all anticipating but I thought maybe it was time to give a little insight into what I’ve been up to.
In Adelaidian news, this weekend is the clipsal and thankfully it’s off to victor for me because the noise isn’t quite as nice as when it is not there!
Then next weekend is the Indian Mela festival which should be fun. I know I’m so Indian with my only knowledge of India being derived from the one time I ate Indian food on the night before Cam and Marion left. So yes, the chance to learn about other cultures is quite cool and I’m volunteering there next sat for 8 hrs so hopefully I’ll get the chance to see some funky bollywood moves!
Then next sun is the treasure hunt for the make poverty history campaign and it would be so good if I could get together a group of people but we’ll see what happens. If you want to know more about it, go to the stir website and click the link.
Well until next time loyal readers
Love Lisa
